OUR PROGRAM
The Midwest Community Development Institute (CDI) provides top-notch training for development professionals, community leaders, and public officials, anyone who is actively engaged in building a vibrant and better community.
CDI training takes place in an intensive four-day session held in Moline, Illinois every year in early August. Participants advance through three levels of training (we call them Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3) offered concurrently. We strive to make the training fun, interactive, and practical, so that it can be immediately applied when participants return home.
Learning new skills is only part of the picture. CDI also offers participants a wonderful opportunity to develop a network of allies. Participants build relationships that are an on-going source of support in their careers.
Furthermore, CDI offers you a chance to add to your credentials. By participating in CDI and meeting additional criteria, you can receive certification as a Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED). This certification is available through the Community Development Council, a national organization that oversees all six CDI sites.
